Star of Destiny: Tenei (Suikoden I)
Weapons: His axe is called the "Axe of the Oath" because of the words inscribed on it -- "I will protect my master." As a former soldier, he also has some experience with swords and bows ... though he will be the first to admit he is terrible with them.
Runes: He comes to the castle with a Water Rune on his right hand.
Skills/Special Abilities: Since he was once a soldier, Gremio can hold his own in a battle if need be. He is also a fair rune user.
Other Abilities: First and foremost, Gremio has been a housekeeper/caretaker for the last several years of his life. He is a respected cook and knows how to get any kinds of stains out of laundry. Additionally, he has been a bit of a handyman around the McDohl household when Cleo is out ... since he does not trust Pahn with a hammer and nails.
Weaknesses: Gremio suffers from the oftentimes paralyzing fear of failing the person he is trying to protect, as well as the strong need to see all debts fulfilled in their entirety. He's also ticklish ... but isn't everyone?
Appearance: Of medium height and build, Gremio could easily pass as any regular citizen if not for the crossed scar over his left cheek. (However, the presence of the scar doesn't seem to scare anyone off in the least bit.) He is highly unthreatening in appearance, wearing nothing that brings unnecessary attention to himself and not holding himself in any noticeably prideful way. His blonde hair reaches mid-back and is tied back to the nape of his neck, and his eyes are blue.
Personality: It can be easily said that Gremio does not have a mean bone in his body. He is often soft-spoken and gentle, as well as prone to worrying to the point of stammering. Though he may appear a pushover because of his calm disposition, Gremio is steadfast in his loyalties and will be quick to defend those that are important to him.
History: As a young man with a strong sense of justice and duty, Gremio joined the army as soon as he was eligible to do so. His unwavering attention to his duties earned him the attention of General Teo McDohl, who called upon him to save his son when he was taken hostage during the Succession War. Gremio succeeded and pledged his life to Teo, who took him in after the war along with Pahn and Cleo. Much more comfortable with his position in the McDohl household than on the battlefield, he became the caretaker of Tir while Teo was out.
He became near-inseparable from Tir, who he watched like a surrogate father in Teo's ever-growing absence. He eventually pledged his life to protecting Tir, who he followed even when he was forced to flee from Gregminster with the Soul Eater. Gremio followed through with his promise when the Gate Rune Wars began to heat up, sacrificing his life to save Tir and the others with him from Milich Oppenheimer's man-eating spores.
However, near the end of the war, he was revived through the combined powers of the Stars of Destiny and Leknaat. Using this second chance to pick up where he had left off, Gremio stayed near Tir after the war ended, following him wherever the wind would take them.
